Our history
WaterWorks Pools & Spas is South Carolina’s premier destination for luxury outdoor living. Founded in 2001 by Eric Prince, a second-generation pool professional with roots in the industry dating back to 1983, WaterWorks was built on a legacy of craftsmanship, innovation, and a relentless commitment to excellence.
Eric launched the company with a bold vision: to deliver stunning, custom gunite pools and unmatched service across the state. By the age of 22, he had already led WaterWorks to install over 100 pools in its first year, setting the tone for a company that would go on to redefine backyard living.
In 2010, WaterWorks opened its first retail store in Sumter, SC, which quickly became the central hub for statewide operations. From this location, we coordinate deliveries and dispatch expert crews to serve customers in Charleston, Edisto Beach, Myrtle Beach, Columbia, and beyond.
In 2014, we expanded our footprint by acquiring 1236 & 1240 Alice Drive, adding 3,000 square feet to diversify our offerings and elevate the customer experience. This paved the way for new product lines and a more immersive showroom.
Our growth continued with the launch of our Florence location in January 2017, further solidifying our presence and ability to serve communities across South Carolina.
When the world changed in 2020, WaterWorks rose to the occasion. As families stayed home, the demand for pools exploded. We adapted quickly—implementing safety protocols, offering curbside service, and helping customers turn their backyards into personal sanctuaries.
Today, WaterWorks is powered by a skilled and experienced team, including long-time employees who have been with us for over 16 years. Our crew is the backbone of our success, and their dedication has helped us earn the title of “Best in the Business” for seven consecutive years.
We are constantly evolving—training our staff, refining our styles, shapes, and pricing, and even developing our own proprietary software to enhance the customer experience and streamline operations.
As part of our continued growth, we now offer custom outdoor kitchens, pavilions, artificial turf installations, and putt-putt courses—creating complete backyard environments that go far beyond the pool. We also provide professional fence installations and build commercial pools, expanding our capabilities to meet the needs of both homeowners and businesses across the state.

Assumed a key role in the management of Inside Out, a division of Aqua Pools, which operated as his family's swimming pool store.
Established the first swimming pool store in Manning, SC, operating under the corporate brand of Pool Supply. In the course of overseeing operations, co-owner Eric Prince divested his shares in the company.
Engaged in the construction and sale of swimming pools in Sumter, SC, concurrently earning a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license.
Successfully inaugurated the second retail establishment, WaterWorks, situated at 1236 Alice Dr, Sumter, SC. Achieved the notable distinction of being voted the premier pool store in Sumter.
Persisted in strategic expansion and operational success.
Facilitated further expansion by enlisting Whitney Moss, Eric's sister, as the office manager. Leveraged her expertise to elevate customer service and management functions in response to WaterWorks' expanding customer base.
Expressed anticipation for another exemplary year with the continued support of valued clientele.
In 2014, WaterWorks Pools and Spas made a strategic investment in growth by acquiring the properties at 1236 and 1240 Alice Drive in Sumter, SC. This expansion added an additional 3,000 square feet to our footprint, allowing us to significantly diversify our product offerings and enhance the overall customer experience. The added space enabled us to expand our retail showroom, introduce new lines of outdoor living products, and better showcase our custom pool and spa solutions—all while continuing to deliver the personalized service our customers have come to expect.

Introduced a new product line, Coastal Patio Living, as a division of WaterWorks. Planned the opening of a second location in Florence, SC, at 2251 W Palmetto St in December 2016.
